ArtRatio Smart Glass Display Cases offer a spectacular exhibition of 3-dimensional works of art best displayed in vertical or inclined orientations, such as rare books, jewellery, sculptures, textile costumes and musical instruments.

The switchable smart glass facade reduces UV, infrared and visible light damage by switching into its transparent state (and activating the internal LEDs) only when triggered by visitor presence.

This is ideal for very light-sensitive materials, such as old newspaper and silk, and pigments such as vermilion, ultra-marine and organic lake.

At all other times, the object sits in complete darkness and benefits from after-hours security.

ArtRatio display cases adjust the glass transmittance (and any internal lighting) as a function of the object’s sensitivity, whilst measuring temperature, humidity, incident light and light exposure. This ensures that the work is maintained within international conservation limits, such as CIE 157, BSI PAS 198 or CIBSE SLL Lighting Guide 8.

We also publish an index of popularity to measure the time that the work has been viewed, giving invaluable metrics regarding object-specific visitor engagement.
